Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral to get started?

No. You can book directly. If you’d like to access Medicare rebates, you’ll need a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP.

How do I know if therapy is right for me (or my child)?

You don’t need a diagnosis or a clear “problem” to start. If something feels off - stress, behaviour changes, relationship strain, or just not coping as well as usual, that’s enough reason to reach out.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is about understanding what’s been going on and what you’d like to change. It’s a relaxed, guided conversation - not an assessment you need to prepare for.

How long will I need to come for?

It depends on your goals. Some people come for a few sessions to work through something specific, while others prefer ongoing support over time.

Do you work with children, teens, and families?

Yes — support is tailored across all ages. For younger clients, sessions are adapted to be engaging and age-appropriate, with parents involved where helpful.

Can sessions be done online?

Yes — appointments are available in person, via video, or over the phone. Many people find online sessions just as effective and more convenient.

How much does it cost, and can I get a rebate?

Fees vary, but Medicare rebates may be available with a Mental Health Care Plan. Some reduced-fee options may also be offered depending on availability.
