I have experience working with clients in both the public health system and private practice to help them improve the way they feel, think and act in relation to specific areas of concern in their lives. Some of the more common areas are:

o        Anxiety

o        Stress

o        Depression

o        Self-esteem & Confidence

o        Anger

o        Relationship issues

o        Work problems

o        Bullying

o        Adjustment issues

o        Health anxiety

I have worked with both adults and children across different settings in which the aim was to target various forms of anxiety. Additionally, I have been involved in running groups for Panic, other forms of anxiety and adult depression groups.

My approach to treatment is influenced by my belief that each client is unique and therefore has a different story to tell. The client has a vast amount of knowledge about themselves, their strengths and weaknesses, and the kind of life they would like to lead. I combine my knowledge of research and my clinical experience with the client's experience of what strategies have been helpful and unhelpful for them in dealing with problems in their lives.

I strive to create an environment that is not only therapeutic, but that also fosters clients willingness and ability to trust, leading them to feel able to discuss any topic without fear of judgment, including their feelings about the therapy process.

Treatment involves working together to develop a goal and then continuing to work together to achieve it. Over the course of this work the client will develop skills and knowledge that they will be able to apply both during and after treatment to maintain their good health and continue to improve their quality of life.

I also have a continuing interest in further enhancing my clinical skills and knowledge by attending conferences, lectures and workshops, and keeping up to date with current literature and research. I have a special research interest in how much the relationship between the therapist and client contributes to the outcome of treatment.
