Catherine Wilson
Catherine Wilson is a registered Psychologist with an Honours Degree in Psychology from Griffith University and postgraduate training in Clinical Psychology from Macquarie University. She has worked extensively with carers and people with disabilities, and with adults and adolescents who have serious and chronic mental illness, who are facing stressful life events and those who are questioning roles, identity and meaning.

She specialises in working collaboratively with adult clients to improve their quality of life. Her open-minded, non-judgemental and "real" way of being with clients, creates a safe and honest environment, where clients can explore any issue of concern.

Many people approach Catherine to work on decreasing anxiety, depression, sexual dysfunction, stress or other "symptoms". Others seek to work more deeply, to understand what is underlying their symptoms. For others still, the issues may be unclear, and therapy will involve exploring a non-specific sense of dissatisfaction.

Many people struggle to be comfortable with themselves or to fit in, and feel that their personal identity does not match what is expected of them. For many of us, our sense of who we are is strongly influenced by our idea of ourselves as gendered and sexual beings - that is, our sense of ourselves as a man or woman or neither; straight, gay, lesbian, bi or asexual. For others, our ascribed and adopted roles (such as carer, worker, husband, unemployed person, parent, artist, person with anxiety issues etc) dominate our sense of ourselves. It is often useful to explore these issues with someone outside our family and friends.

Whatever the issue or client aim, Catherine provides the opportunity for clients to construct meaning in a way that heightens their sense of living a meaningful and useful life. She sees clients as the experts in their own life, and uses her knowledge of theory and practice to help them identify and explore the choices available to them.
