Motor and traffic accidents
If you have been injured in a road accident and require the services of a psychologist as part of your recovery, the State Government may fund the cost of psychological services. In NSW this is administered through the Motor Accident Authority (MAA) www.maa.nsw.gov.au Once you have made a claim to the agency, you will be referred to a psychologist. You may ask to be referred to a Wellbeing Clinic Psychologist who will be able to assist.
Workcover
If you have been injured at work or in the course of carrying out your work, you may require the services of a psychologist as part of your recovery. In NSW WorkCover will refer you to a psychologist once your claim has been approved, and cover the cost of your consultations for a specified period of time. You may ask to be referred to a Wellbeing Clinic Psychologist. For details contact workcover www.workcover.nsw.gov.au
Victims of Crime
If you are a victim of a crime, the State Government may pay for you to see a psychologist. When you report the crime to the police, you will be given information about what psychological services are available to you. The Commonwealth Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) will pay for veterans' consultations with psychologists registered with that Department. Call your nearest DVA office for details - see www.dva.gov.au/states.htm or call general enquiries number: 133 254.
