It is widely acknowledged that when you have personal, interpersonal or relationship issues at some stage they will spill into the work place.
Data supports the amount of lost productivity due to problems outside of the work place that end up spilling into the work place costing the work place substantially. Latest figures estimate that employees with untreated depression alone is costing employers $9660 in lost productivity per year.
Many business owners and managers now realize that if they support their employees through their difficulties then they may not only retain those employees but they will speed up the time it takes them to return to optimum productivity. When treated professionally, rather than giving time off unsupported, employers can also recoup an average $7600 a year in improved performance.
For many business owners/managers they want to support their employees but they don’t have the skills or the time to invest in supporting them themselves. Further, they often have no idea of where they could search for an appropriate therapist to help.
That is where we see the Wellbeing Clinic being of such value to the workers and employers of the Sutherland Shire. Nestled in the heart of the Sutherland Shire we are close at hand for the Shire’s businesses to refer those employees in need, safe in the knowledge that we have specialists in all the major fields of psychology, as well as many of the minor ones. It takes the guess work out of it for employers, making good moral sense and good financial sense.
Many employers support EAP’s for their employees because they recognise the economic and moral benefits the provision of psychological support brings as it builds morale and, in a more practical sense, returns the employee to efficiency more quickly and more sustainably.
The introduction of the new Medicare Rebates (see Rebates page) means that psychological services are now affordable for all people - negating the need for organisations to subsidise high psychology fees through traditional EAP’s. The great challenge for Employers now will be to find high quality, easily accessible Psychologists to refer their employees to – which is where Wellbeing Clinic can assist. Employees trust the Wellbeing Clinic because we are staffed by experienced specialist therapists, we are not on a contract with the employer (which can lead to a perceived potential breach of confidentiality) and we are local. We also have a large number of experienced, professional psychologists (see our Therapist’s Profiles page) who are available during work hours and after hours Monday to Friday and all day Saturday.
